HSS team rider Kanoa Igarashi captured the national Open Boys' title Saturday in Huntington Beach. Nearly 3 weeks ago at the NSSA Salt Creek Kanoa came off with the Interscholastic Middle School Boys Title. Then the highly touted Igarashi who is likely the most precise in technique and foundation in his Div. ran out of time and luck at Trestles in the U14 Surfing America Champs with an equal 5th. He then charged into HB on a mission. Kanoa defending his backyard on the Southside of HB Pier in what was the most exciting final of the event saw him claw his way from 5th to 1st falling down to 2nd then to 3rd only to secure the lead with a wide swinging pier bowl right for the win.
