There is nothing better than preparing for a surf trip. The excitement. The anticipation. The anxiety that creeps up when you start to worry if you packed everything or if there are actually gonna be waves when you finally get to your destination. Everything about getting ready for a surf trip is rad. Its all part of the trip experience and its priceless.

Well, its that time of year again. Time to start thinking about what board is gonna be under your feet once those south swells start slapping the shore this summer.

Mark your calendar, set your alarm clock and get down to the southside parking lot at the HB Pier this Saturday, May 11th for the 2013 Channel Islands Demo Tour. The demo starts at 9am sharp and you know you aren't the only guy/gal in town that wants to try every CI board under the sun so make sure you get there early to get first pickins.

If you happen to find your dream board stop in to the HSS Boardroom and get a Conner/Parker Coffin traction pad with any CI board purchase. Go on, treat yourself to a new board, you deserve it! Hope to see you this Saturday.

Well, today is a stark contrast to what we pulled up to this past Tuesday. Onshore, overcast, cold and overall no good. Despite the crappy conditions HSS Team Rider Ryan Salazar made the best of it.

Summer is almost here. Time to toss that old, yellow, dinged up piece of fiberglass that you call a surfboard and replace it with a new shred sled! If you are in the market for a new ride make sure you try before you buy. Rusty Surfboards is having a demo tomorrow (Thursday, May 2rd) from 8am - 1pm on Northside, HB Pier.

Be there. Find your dream board for the summer. Be happy. If anything its a good excuse to enjoy the amazing weather and swell everyone is forecasting. Not that you really need an excuse for that though.

This Thursday, May 2nd, Reef and What Youth will be premiering their film 'Anything Sing' at the Newport Beach Film Festival. Show starts at 8pm at The Triangle (Newport Blvd & 19th). Get there early. Film, music, art, free stuff. You won't be disappointed.
